Papsy

I can imagine as an artist, the prospect of gospel music in Nigeria a possible takeover I guess. The industry should be about gospel music, because we are spreading the good news (grace) around the world with our lyrics, winning souls to the Kingdom with our heavenly rhythm. I see a future where Gospel artist as well as Gospel music ministers winning Grammy in a secular platform. Not far from now Gospel Music will rise to the zenith.
My name is Michael Victor Papa better known as Papsy, am a Nigerian from Kogi state and I do gospel hiphop/dance hall.
My believe is thus, gospel music is diversify not static day in day out it create a wave which to satisfied the general publics need and want , be it dance hall, R &B, Rap, Reggae, Jazz and so on.

CHRISTMAS DUST

STARING AT THE NORTHERN SKIES,
SHIVERING TO THE FROST,
AS BLUE EXPLODING STARS BREAK,
THE CLOUDS INTO DUST.

FIREFLIES FROM A FALLING STAR,
BLINKING ON WINDOWS,
OF LITTLE SLEEPING CHILDREN,
WITH SMALL BALLS OF SNOW.

DREAMING OF KRIS KRINGLE'S SLEIGH,
HIS ELVES AND RAIN DEERS
ACROSS EVERY KINDLED CHIMNEY,
WITH CONFECTION AND GIFTS,

DAY BREAKS AS SMOKEY ROOFTOPS,
FILL CHRISTMAS AIR,
WHILE PARROTS IN THE BACKYARD,
NIBBLE ON OUR PEARS.

CHIRPING OF THE TEMPLE BIRDS,
LITTLE CHRIST IS BORN,
WITH CHORUS ON THE HIGHEST PITCH,
SEVERAL TO COME.

                                       JAKES.

iNTROducing SLIMZY

I am Uduak-obong Jackson, and Am infamously known as Slimzy. I am from Akwa Ibom state and I consider myself unique. I know God didn't create me to be like anyone else. Cause I perceive and react to situations in a different way from the next girl. Spoken word for me is a passion. It's far more than just performing and receiving applauds or commendation. It's me sharing my thoughts, airing my views on issues and also giving hope to people. Accounting and Medicine won't give me such platform.
I do spoken word and I believe spoken word has come to stay in Nigeria for good. In no time, it will become one of the most appreciated acts in this country. I'm sure that with proper awareness and sponsorship of poetry events, spoken word poets who feel there's no place for them will begin to break out of their shells.
I love God and all that He stands for. It's better to please Him than to put up an act of adhering to religious principles and still have no relationship with Him.
I believe young people have a wrong idea about certain issues one of such include Sex. Sex is something beautiful to be enjoyed in a union known as marriage. The way sex is presented to us nowadays, it seems right to have it outside the confines of marriage. Most of us have heard thousands of reasons why we should abstain but somehow we fall prey to the lies of sex being a scale to measure love. Personally, I have been there before but right now, it’s a "No sex till marriage" policy.
As a young Nigerian youth, you should believe in God first and then yourself. Never give up in life till you achieve your goals and no matter how hard things might get, never forget that there's always light at the end of the tunnel.
Don't stop screaming till the world hears you.
A piece titled- BEHIND THE SMILES - SLIMZY

All I needed was a right frame of mind and a solemn music on the background to get this over and done with.
The picture!
So here's a guy. Bright smile, cheerful spirit, good looking and that's all about him.
Every other part of him lies quietly in the shores of his heart, loudly giving out an echo at the end of every fake smile even when he sings a hymn.
As cool as he seems to be he gets baked up every second in an oven hot enough to bake bread for the whole city of Lagos in December.
By looks he's got everything locked down yet his mind is naked, void of any say of its own, tossed so deep and made to live in the shadows of yesteryears, scaring the person of today from putting a warmly knitted piece of cloth, more like bitter November.
Stitches of guilt’s and regrets sew mercilessly his brain into a piece of used table mat left in a bin just by the corner. Ruins rumple his thoughts and the only option is to play carelessly with a bucket just to kick it.
Harsh as the weather is, he barely knows what goes on around him not even a burning ray of the sun means a thing to him, he has shut down every response to external bodies, internal bodies make him  a slave of himself. Bitterness and depression keep him cold as he staggers on the inside unfed. Pains obviously are his only option to eat.
Labelled by his peers, he hides himself the more leaving fate to do its job but fate seems to have resigned from this slave. Burning up lungs, he brings the end product out in an attempt to free himself yet it gets him deeper and closer to his new best friend as he calls it.
Soon he loses it and the doctor says he can't make it and for the first time he speaks for the very last time...'No one cared to listen to me, they only heard me'.

I take a deep breath here cause if only we could listen he just might have lived...#sigh
